Andrew Ellicott was a surveyor and mathematician; he was elected to the American Philosophical Society in 1785. From the guide to the Astronomical journal, 1797-1801, 1797-1801, (American Philosophical Society) Ellicott (1754-1820) was a surveyor and matematician. He explored the Mississippi River Valley and the southern boundaries of the United States.
